I skipped updating the firmware, formatting, etc. I downloaded USB 3 which looks to be the latest official Sync 3.4 update and it successfully updated my Sync unit from version 3.3 to 3.4 on my Ranger 2019. It takes a bit of time - about 20 minutes and the unit rebooted at the end. It comes back up with the updated 3.4 sleek interface.
